Baklava
1 pkg Phyllo Dough
1 lb. chopped nuts
1 c. butter
1 tsp cinnamon
1 cup water
1 c. sugar
1.2 c honey
1 tsp vanilla extract
Preheat oven to 350
Butter the side and bottom of a 9 x 13 pan
Chop the nuts, mix with cinnamon and set aside
Cut phyllo dough in half to fit the pan
Cover the phyllo with a dampened cloth as you work to prevent the phyllo from drying out
Place two sheets of phyllo dough in the pan and butter, repeat this step 4
Sprinkle 2-3 TBS. of nut mixture on top
Continue to layer phyllo dough and nut mixture
The top layers should be phyllo 6-8 sheets deep
Using a sharp knife, cut into pieces and bake 50 minutes until golden and crisp
Boil sugar and water until sugar melts
Add vanilla and honey and simmer for 20 minutes
Remove baklava from the oven and spoon sauce over it
Let cool and serve in cupcake containers
